Denise and Dave Edwards check out some of the pictures on their digital camera after they have run out of chili at the Pine Chili Festival, conducted at the new Ramada in Pine.

Happening on the same day and in close proximity the Pine Tie-Dye and the Chili Cook-off Challenge hosted by Senior Citizens Affairs Foundation (SCAF) were two well attended happenings in Pine, Saturday, Oct. 24. The opportunity to taste all the delicious homemade chili was only $3 per person. One would have been hard pressed to find a better deal than that in all of Rim Country. Tasting began at 11 a.m., and most of the contestants ran out of chili by 12:30 p.m. The folks at Pine By Design also offered a pumpkin patch. If you’ve never had the opportunity to roam through a field and pick out the perfect “family pumpkin,” it’s really a lot of fun and each one costs only $5.
