Learn about Rim Country history at the Western Heritage Festival beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 in Green Valley Park. There will be demonstrations and lots of activities. Above, Mitzi Paul demonstrated weaving on a loom at last year’s festival. You can also enjoy the best fiddle music in the state this weekend at the 39th annual Vertielee Floyd Memorial Fiddle Contest. Gates open at 8:30 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday at Amity’s Acres, just off South McLane Road (south of West Main Street), where the state’s best musicians will compete for a chance to go to the nationals in Idaho later in the fall.

The Payson Farmers Market closes for the season after this Saturday, Sept. 26. The market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon with fresh-picked, local produce to stock up for winter.
