In addition to the Congressional Medal of Honor, U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Robert E. O’Malley holds the Purple Heart, the Navy Unit Commendation, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
There are lots of options at the Senior Circle for those who would like to get fit. The Senior Circle Feeling Fit class has expanded to twice a week. Beginning in March the class will meet twice a week. Currently it meets from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Fridays. The Circle’s Tai Chi class meets from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Monday and Thursdays. For those who want to exercise with dance, the Circle’s Beginning Ballroom class is from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays and no partner is required. A new Line Dance class is starting soon. The Optimists, Kiwanis, Rotary and the High School STUGO and Drama Clubs invite residents of the Rim Country to attend the Lip Sync Concert Feb. 27 at the high school auditorium. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased from members of the participating clubs and at the Payson High School Studio Theater. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students if purchased in advance. At the door, the tickets will cost $2 more. Sen. John McCain held a town hall meeting at Payson High School auditorium Saturday that attracted about 500 people throughout the morning and early afternoon sessions.

The Relay for Life kick-off party, held Friday evening, Feb. 19, at the Church of the Nazarene, featured information geared toward building excitement for the annual fund-raiser that saves lives. John Zilisch, chairman in charge of booths and displays, recalls his first encounter with a family member with cancer.
