During the month of January, the Library Friends of Payson Bookstore is featuring a clearance sale on its entire inventory. All hardback and paperback books, videos, music cassettes, DVDs, and jigsaw puzzles will be offered at a 2-for-1 special. The second item must be of equal or lesser value than the first. The Payson Public Library is located at 328 N. McLane Road.
Officer Jimmy Simmons, with the Department of Public Safety, screens a driver at a DUI checkpoint set up New Year’s Eve at the south end of town. From the 1,179 vehicles that went through the checkpoint, only five people were arrested for driving under the influence. Designated drivers manned 56 of the vehicles, according to DPS.
