The Payson Town Council appointed the first set of volunteers to the Payson Area Youth Council last week. “These are dedicated, active teenagers whose goal is to make Payson a better place,” said Tourism, Parks and Recreation Director Cameron Davis.

The mixer to celebrate the 52nd Hashknife Pony Express Mail Ride is from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 22 at the Buffalo Bar & Grill, 311 S. Beeline Highway. Admission is $3 for members of the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce and $5 for nonmembers. During the event commemorative posters and more will be for sale and riders will be on hand to give autographs. The Hashknife Pony Express ride comes to town the afternoon of Jan. 27, riding down from Holbrook to the Payson Post Office. Last week representatives have been visiting area schools.
