The Longhorn band was the recipient of a Mogollon Sporting Association grant that was used to purchase the group new uniforms.
Edwin Estrada makes this catch, but the Horns still lost to Holbrook 8-2 in a March 1 game in Payson.
Another beneficiary of the Mogollon Sporting Association last year was Class B participant Jacob Enlow during a 10-team junior high track meet.
Among those the Mogollon Sporting Association has helped with much-needed financial aid is the Rim Country Middle School track and field team, which last year included Decie Heron in the high jump.
The Ken Taylor Quartet will perform at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 14 at the Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W. Main St. The concert will feature songs about spring, and includes Ken Taylor on flugelhorn and trumpet, Woody Woodrow on piano, Jack Radavich on bass and Gerry Reynolds on drums. A condor spreads its wings to soak up morning sun and prepare his flight muscles for a day of soaring over the Vermillion Cliffs and the Grand Canyon, looking for food with near-binocular vision. Many of the 74 condors in the reintroduced Arizona flock delight visitors to the Grand Canyon each spring, apparently drawn to all the activity on the South Rim.
Several children celebrated with Clifford the Big Red Dog and the Cat in the Hat during the opening of the new children’s room at the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Public Library.
