Leilani Damon, Soroptimists club member, shows off some of the bras collected for “Free the Girls.” The local club collected over 1,000 bras, all sizes, shapes and colors to be sent to Mozambique, Africa. The project is to help women who are surviving and rehabilitating from slavery in that country. The bras will be washed, mended and sold as a way of making money. Each woman in these safe houses will be able to choose several to keep. The local club is now collecting Bashas’ stamps in order to provide towel sets for the women at the Time Out Shelter at Christmas. Soroptimists International of Zane Grey Country meets at noon Wednesday at Tiny’s Restaurant on Highway 260.
