The race is on out at Payson Event Center. The weekly barrel racing and pole bending practices started at the PEC Wednesday, April 18 and will continue through the spring and into summer. Each Wednesday, the books open at 4 p.m., with time-only runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $3 per run or $5 for a three-minute time slot. Starting Friday, April 27, the Friday Night Barrel and Pole 4D starts. The jackpot includes $250 added money to open. The fee is $25, plus a $5 arena fee. The payout to winners will total 60 percent of the pot. Books open at 5 p.m.; from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. there are time-only runs for $3 per run, with a one minute time limit; competition starts at 7:30 p.m. The Friday night contests will be held May 11, June 22, July 20, Aug. 24, Sept. 14 and Oct. 12.
