Payson’s 4th of July celebration begins at 8 a.m., Wednesday, July 4 and continues throughout the day, concluding with a fireworks display (if conditions allow) at Green Valley Park on West Main Street.
Activities start at 8 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial with a patriotic ceremony, which includes reading the Declaration of Independence. Family games and friendly competitions are from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the amphitheater bandstand will come alive with live music by the Technicolors Band.
The Big Boom Finale starts at about 9 p.m. with one of the most spectacular fireworks shows in Arizona. Free shuttle buses will run from the Payson High School administration parking lot (off McLane Road) to Green Valley Park. After the show, the buses will return people to their cars.

The 2012 Independence Day Celebration hosted by the Payson Elks Lodge takes place Wednesday, July 4 with food served from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., including hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, potato salad and apple crisp with ice cream and live music from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. featuring the Payson Elks Jam Band.
