Snow Storm March 2006

A major winter storm hit Rim Country Friday, March 10 and continued through the weekend dropping more than 30 inches of snow on a drought-ridden community. The storm closed both major highways into Payson. The American Red Cross set up an emergency shelter for stranded motorists at the old Payson High School Gym. Saturday night the shelter housed 165 people including a group of 76 Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts from the American Muslim Society who were evacuated from Camp Geronimo. This gallery includes staff and reader-submitted photos.

This photo was taken in Woodhill after 12" of snow had accumulated around the daffodils.
