A short snow season December 31, 2008
Arizona is an amazing state. For those who do not travel much it is nothing but a vast expanse of cacti, scrub brush trees and lots of sand. Not so. It is so much more. Just up the road from Payson, which is currently without snow, there is snow galore. Enough to slide on and into. It is a wonderful state of geography when one can hop in a car, drive about 10 to 30 miles and find themselves in a winter wonderland with fantastic views of God's country. So much so that it is difficult to decide where to look first, or last. Presented here are a few impressions of that white substance known as snow.
No activity at this Forest Lakes trailer park for the duration of this winter season. Snow just seems to keep piling up.
The play of light and shadow creates interesting designs, be it winter or not. A photographer must always keep an eye for these opportunities.
A winter water burden for this struggling pine will be welcome in the spring as it trickles to roots and quenches a thirst.
Another example of a pattern one can find as one looks across a scene and sees the contrast of light, dark and shallow shades of color. A photographers' eye of the mind looks and visualizes what others only see.
People were here and let everyone who uses Hwy 260 know it. Unfortunately, some other people chose to be less than constructive and demolished this icon a day or two later.
Ponderosa Powder. Top of the Rim Hwy 260. If you are familiar with Ryan Bliss' website Digital Blasphemy, you might recognize this scene. It has the same feel as his rendering titled; November Snow.
Temperature effects water in interesting ways, just be there when it happens and images present themselves.
