Christmas displays December 10, 2009
This is the season for celebration and Christmas displays. So here are a few of the early delights of the holiday season.
'Up on the rooftop...' Michael Allison and Joseph Bowan-Landry sings with gusto during the opening song of the Payson Elementary Christmas Concert.
Practice is good as can be seen by Trevor Flores, left, and Adam Aschnrenner, back row, and McKennah Kirshbaum, left, and Alison Armstead as they finish up on a song in the Payson High School Auditorium, during the PES Christmas Concert.
Jesturing as Santa would during a snow storm, MacKenzie Schulte, left back row, and Jarrod Arballo, and Payton Heit, Kara Percell and Lacey Shannon, show that they have practiced their routines for each song and know their lessons well.
Waiting for their next cue to sing, India Brandenburg, left, and Hailey Hall, back row, and Cheyenne Clark and Aiden Stockman, wait patiently, while Ryleigh Lamanna, center, can't help but jesture and shrug between songs.
Clowns Fizzle and Flambe of the Pine-Strawberry Fire Department joy ride through the parade bringing smiles and laughter to everyone who saw them driving a much smaller version of a fire truck.
. Although it was a chilly night for a boat ride, Madelyne Alexander, 8, waves to onlookers on the Payson Regional Medical Center pontoon boat.
Payson P.A.Y.S. pulled out all the stops with their float. There was a dancing Santa, lights galore and a dozen smiling faces on board.
. Residents watched the town’s new, official Christmas Tree lighting at Green Valley Park just after the parade ended. Santa had the honors of flipping the switch for the lights.
The Payson Choral Society will present its popular Christmas concert in two programs at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Payson High School auditorium. There will be music for all tastes. There will be African music, gospel, traditional and classical Christmas carols.
John Landino and Bill Backes, work through their parts of the Joyous Noel program to be presented Dec. 12 at the Payson High School auditorium.
. Conner Faust had a big job filling Santa’s shoes during the FES production, which concerned the lack of Christmas trees around the world.
