The bedroom in a Houston Mesa home was damaged from flames Thursday, but firefighters kept the fire from spreading to the rest of the home. The grandmother of the home’s owner asks Houston Mesa volunteer firefighter Andy Brandt what happened.

Firefighters save pet from flames
Firefighters saved a home from burning down Thursday afternoon and rescued the home’s only occupant. Lloyd, the family’s guinea pig, was resting in his cage inside the home in the 7400 block of West Toya Vista when a fire started in a rear bedroom.
