Fourth of July July 6, 2010
This years Fourth of July celebration was a huge success with thousands of local and Valley residents descending on Green Valley Park and Main Street to enjoy music, food, shopping and fireworks. Highlights from Saturday include the 2nd Annual Payson Hometown Patriotic Parade down Main Street and a concert under the stars with the Higher Power Band at the Green Valley Park amphitheater. On Sunday, numerous games were set up for children at the park, including sack races, a water balloon toss, tug-of-war and the 2nd Annual Payson Arizona Foot Race. The day culminated in a glorious display of fireworks.
During the Main Street parade, participants showed their pride by wearing red, white and blue and covering nearly every square inch of space with stars and stripes.
Main Street parade participants found unique ways to celebrate the Fourth of July. This family decorated an ATV with red, white and blue.
Veterans Dave Barry (left) and Lonnie Capps attend the flag raising ceremony Sunday morning, which honored those that have served or are still serving. Rretired USMC colonel Bill Sahno gave a speech at the event.
Sunday's crowd milled around the park, strolling past dozens of vendors while the Hot Cappuccinos and the Johnny Anonymously bands played.
The Payson Tea Party was well represented at this birthday celebration parade. The annual parade on Main Street was part of the Payson Fourth of July activities which included a tribute, games for children, fireworks and other events this weekend.
