The 2005 Fire Season

Three Fire contained

Friday, July 1, 2005

The Three Fire is now 100 percent contained, and all recreation facilities within the Roosevelt Lake and Apache Lake recreation areas will be open to the public for the 4th of July weekend.

Prior to containment, the Cholla Campground at Roosevelt Lake served as the fire base camp.

The Three Fire, which started June 21 from a lightning strike, consumed about 20,000 acres near the 3-Bar Wildlife area 6.5 miles northwest of Roosevelt Dam.

Tonto National Forest officials emphasize that the use of fireworks is prohibited on all public lands in Arizona.
