Blessing of the Bikes

Pastor David Rennick (left) blesses "Pappa Jim" Vance and his Honda Valkerie before the motorcycle brigade's police escort to the edge of Star Valley. The participants took a scenic ride on Highway 260 to a look out across the Mogollon Rim.

Before the blessing of the bikes, the Payson Color Guard presented the flag, the national anthem and a recorded bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace to honor those men and women who served their country.

The parking lot of the Payson United Methodist Church was filled with gleaming, high-powered motorcycles Saturday, May 3. Pastor David Rennick and Brad Bolt, president of Riders of the Purple Sage, presented the 2nd Annual Blessing of the Bikes at the church, which included an ending prayer at a look-out on the Mogollon Rim on Highway 260.
