This week, high school as they knew it was over for seven Payson High girls. As members of the community, you may or may not have heard of the most recent uproar centered around the seven seniors.

Payson Elementary School would like to thank all of those people who supported our recent spaghetti dinner. All proceeds from the dinner go toward funding or subsidizing the transportation costs of field trips for students at Payson Elementary School.

In a letter to the editor that was published in the April 18, 2008 issue of the Payson Roundup, I addressed the reasons why it is important for the future Pine-Strawberry water district to own its own source of water and why completing the K2 well prior to purchasing the water companies makes more sense than relying on private wells as the major source of water.

Heavy traffic frustrating for travelers

Now that we are back to heavy traffic weekends, I wonder if we've considered a short term solution. We need the business that our valley friends bring to the Rim Country, but the heavy traffic and slow movement through Payson makes it very frustrating for travelers.

I recently received the Citizens Against Government Waste "2008 Congressional Pig Book Summary." This annual report, by CAGW, is a recap of the 11,610 "earmarked" pork projects, amounting to $17.2 billion stuffed into the 12 federal appropriations bills.
