The young people should file a class action law suit for age discrimination. Former students should sue for tuition and restitution. It is a great time to file for damages and have enough money for a home. The Board does not have enough money to defend a suit.

jeff durbin 2 years, 11 months ago on School Board invocation evokes equivocation

In this day when humanism, socialism and relativism is popular, it is refreshing to see that Shirley has the courage to place things in proper perspective. I wish there were more people like you, but sadly there not. Barbara like most ideologues speaks of the separation of church in state idelogioly which is only found in the communist manifesto. But she would know any better, for she is a product of this same ignorant public education government process. Sadly, Kathie Manning is ignorant of our nation’s Christian heritage in public schools.

Does it matter?

These people have been feeding our children a horrible ideology because they cannot follow God less believe in Him, therefore are fundamentally atheists and that makes everyone stupid. Communism has produced many stupid students like murderers like Che Guevara, Chairman Mao. Stalin and Nelson Mandela who are now praised, both hated God. If you like Nelson Mandela and think he is wonderful, I suggest looking up the term “necklacing” and remember that Barbara Underwood is essentially supporting the same exact ideology, no God and keep the children stupid.

If you have children in public school, you need to pull them out ASAP. Public school is nothing but a machine producing stupidity. All this Board can do is raise taxes, rotate excellent staff and set more telephone poles and obstacle courses, while removing all truth and keeping the children stupid.

Keep up the good work Shirley.

The Worst of Payson

The parking lot and east entrance at the Post Office.

Speed limit on McLane.

No healthy activities, entertainment or mentoring for teens.

Easy heroin and crystal meth availability, but speeding is nearly eradicated.

Very liberal newspaper, if “newspaper” at all.

No love for homeless or abandoned, but an entire page in the paper for abandoned pets.

Lack of business/employment creation or retention. Zero leadership.

Public schooling that is nothing but indoctrination and always raising the tax base.

A college that offers “free” tuition for seniors, while charging the tax base.

30 churches that are nearly dead while two are filled.

By the numbers, the Casino, Pete’s Place and liquor store being the best places for recreation.

Dear Ted, You and others who are convinced that Obama and his polices are wonderful will leave a short and unkind legacy. You are nothing but a puff of smoke. Basically, it appears you and your kind fully support abortion, destroying Christianity and keeping the general public ignorant while favoring Marxist policies. Just because Obama may have a bible doesn’t make him or you a follower of Jesus. I agree that Hilary will finish what Obama has started and you and the rest of us will suffer all because you and others like yourself had a hard heart. What benefit has Obama done that you are willing to praise him forever? All I see is destruction and fools supporting him as with Mandela.

jeff durbin 3 years ago on Support pro-life efforts

Somehow, we have decided an unborn baby is not worthy of life. Life is so precious yet we have been trained to kill innocent children. Sadly, abortion is accepted by people who have been brainwashed by a system which trains us that humans are a simply a product of evolution and there no moral absolutes. Everything is relative. Our public schools and television promotes humanism, evolution and the new religion of atheism and we think it is smart and good. Atheism leads to only one thing, communism. We forget that Nelson Mandela was an abortion loving murdering communist, but we lower our flags and worship him. We made a thug look like a messiah because we have preferred this information. We watch in horror daily violence and blame guns for killings forgetting that we have trained people to hate each other. Church leaders avoid teaching proper identity and making followers of Jesus while making no effect to protect and love the unborn, sick, naked or imprisoned. Church leaders avoid teaching that love is a verb avoiding any possible persecution while collecting a nice paycheck, title and vacation. I do not know of any church leaders who stand for the rights of the unborn other than in an academic stance nor will love without conditions. The primary reason is that very few really believe that God exists, for if they did, there would be action to promote love. Somehow we prefer human rights over moral obligations and forgotten where we get our authority. Where do you get your authority? Is it television, news, public education, Karl Marx or the Holy Bible? I hope Lord Jesus returns soon, for I had enough of this World. Most of the church prefers neglecting these issues, spiritual abuse or self-promotion or knowing a little about Jesus. I want to promote gentle healing and that only comes from Lord Jesus knowing you. Matthew 7:22
Therefore God delivered them over in the cravings of their hearts to sexual impurity, so that their bodies were degraded among themselves. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served something created instead of the Creator, who is praised forever.

jeff durbin 3 years, 3 months ago on Higher minimum wage would kill struggling businesses

I really doubt if any second or third generation business owner knows anything about starting a business and fighting every day to keep it and this is not taught in the college sewage education system. It takes a huge risk and to start a business and greater risk to keep it. I really doubt if many if any second or third generation business owner has the motivation and drive as the original owner did. It looks like some of these business owners and people who agree with them had everything given to them. I agree that a profitable business should reward its employees, but the majority of business fail (90 percent the first year and 99 percent by the fifth year) and you can’t have it both ways.
Every small business owner I know is struggling. Some of us have more debt than profit, more trouble than any employee. The business owners I know who are doing good have cheated the stock market and retirement systems and no one complains. It is very easy to cheat Wall Street and investors out of money, but some of us prefer to keep business legit, and hope for a break. I am a business owner tired of working 10-15 hours every day and having employees telling their best ideas for their self-improvement while they never losing sleep or worry about next week’s bills. I wish I could inherit a glamorous business or a retirement fund so I could ride on somebody else’s coattails while proclaiming the benefits of socialism. Fortunately, I have chosen capitalism for socialism only leads to one thing, Atheism. Jeff Durbin

jeff durbin 3 years, 8 months ago on Editor wants help setting policy for letter writers

It seems our Editor needs to publish articles to keep people happy and sell advertisements for a dying community. The Editor no longer needs any big thoughts or fancy words, for the public education system removed that burden. Let’s not investigate deep and time consuming stories, or stories that will leave any legacy, or change lives, make differences, but continuing print the exciting news of Rim County.

Let’s avoid any controversy about guns, creation, religion, economy or the President, for those concepts are too hard for us to comprehend and the majority likes to pretend they don’t exist. No more bad or politically incorrect terms, like calling a fetus a baby or the President a Leftist. The Editor needs a policy to avoid any subject deemed unworthy and should censor any one or any subject deemed irresponsible. Maybe the term “policy” is too weak, maybe “law” would be better.

The Roundup is no longer a “newspaper” but a hard-printed social media production aimed at the public for intended for the ignorant, while exploiting the advertisers. I hope the Roundup’s publisher looks at the digression of the content and the loss of subscribers in evaluating this new policy. Currently, I haven’t kept one Roundup in the last ten years more than 5 minutes; half of that time is in the classifieds. There was a time when the paper was good. Good enough to hold on to and show others.

jeff durbin 3 years, 8 months ago on Moral issues

And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a worthless mind to do what is morally wrong. They are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, arrogant, proud, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, and unmerciful. Although they know full well God’s just sentence—that those who practice such things deserve to die—they not only do them, but even applaud others who practice them.

jeff durbin 3 years, 8 months ago on Hate-filled letters

Dear Otis, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. That small amount of scripture that the Roundup publishes may answer …

The Four Difficult Life Questions

  1. Who am I?

  2. Where did I come from or how did I get here?

  3. What is my purpose?

  4. Where am I going?

The problem is not scripture in the Roundup but a void in your life, possibly a harden heart.

Jesus begins the relationship by touching your heart. If you recognize Him knocking on your heart, open the door and let Him in. Simply say “Save me Lord Jesus” and follow Him the rest of your life.

jeff durbin 3 years, 8 months ago on Evolution debate continues

If the Editor is convinced that we simply evolved from simple organisms over millions of years, it should be easy to prove to someone like me. I suggest publishing over time the original Darwin’s “Origin of Species” in your paper, the copyright is expired and now is public domain. Write your commentary upon his information or any other evolutionist. Educate us on the correct evolutional process and provide the evidence, not drawings and ideas. Back up your reputation with modern repeatable and observable science, the fossil record and DNA. Show us how birth defects, random selection, mutations and the method that DNA has accepted these chance changes and has improved over millions of years. How an ape lost a chromosome and became human, yet we are not interfertile. Why a butterfly has 60 chromosomes but lost 36 chromosomes to become an apelike creature and now we only have 23.

How asexual creatures became sexual. How life came from non-life. How simple are the single-celled organisms and how they mutated into complex life forms over millions of years. I really need to understand these issues for I haven’t seen any evidence to the contrary. I am pretty sure that a potato and a dog are not related. I am sure you will be greatly praised for your endeavor.

But for me and a few others, we have seen and evaluated evolution’s evidence and the choice is easy. For God’s invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what He has made. As a result, people are without excuse. For though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became nonsense, and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man, birds, four-footed animals, and reptiles.

Jeff Durbin Thoroughly trained and indoctrinated in evolution, but found out there is no evidence, it is fantasy. A fantasy we are wrongly continuing in our taxpayer support public septic system called public education.
