Sexual assaults in the military are an ongoing problem. Our congress is studying the problem, but so far, no one had suggested a workable solution. I would suggest booting out the offender with an undesirable discharge. That could minimize the problem for the military, however, that would transfer the problem to the civilian sector. The general attitude of the civilian public seems to be: "It doesn't affect me, so forget it". Only education will change that attitude. I feel that we can try to improve the attitude by education, but change will take a painfully long time.

It looks like there are plenty of scum bags out there who will defraud. The damage to scientific discoveries and inventions can hurt many people. The $77.8 million which McCormick stole should be confiscated, so he would have no benefit from it when he is released from prison.

Recently, the connection to the web site has been timing out when attempting to link to various web pages. Fortunately, the problem has been fixed as of today! Thanks and kudos to the techie folks who keep this Roundup site going.

Here's an idea. In Susanville, California, a small town, the cable TV puts a channel on their system which shows paid announcements, in 15 second segments. We could have such a system here, which could be used to broadcast alert messages. The police department could post real time warnings.

I enjoy reading the blogs in the forum. I don't mind emotional language, but dislike name calling. I believe that the limits you set are quite reasonable and fair. Keep up the good work so we can all enjoy the forums.

Hi Pat,

As you know, I recently moved to Grants Pass, Oregon. The cost of getting my vehicle registered was $194.00. My drivers license was $60.00. The state also requires a birth certificate which cost $66.00. The charges are way out of line compared to Arizona. There is a vote coming up in May for a tax increase. I will proudly vote NO...!

Tom,

Yes, I believe that there is a widespread, genuine mistrust of all federal government. The case you mention is a good example of graft and mismanagement of federal money. It also illustrates the way that power is abused by federal officers. Kudos to the FBI...!

Tom,

Thanks for summing up the issue. My comment was intended to fill in an aspect of the discussion not yet covered. I don't mean any insult to women. Life in military service is sometimes a hardship on both husband and wife. Many marriages can point to it as the reason for separation. However, I don't blame the military for a mans indiscretion. Men know the restraints they will be subject to when they enlist in the military, and some of them choose to ignore morality. In that case, the military punishment can be quite severe. Ladies, thanks for your comments!

I agree with Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Roberts. The DNA may contain important genetic information, but it is that information which should be patentable, not the DNA, or the slice of it.
