Getting back to Walmart and it's PR image, I recall just one thought about Walmart, which I had when I first moved to Payson in 1990.

That was that Walmart had no automotive service department. The reason, I was told, was that the town council didn't want to foster the competition of a well run company. So I had to take my vehicles to a company which I had no information about. That turned out to be quite expensive.

Pat is correct. Let Walmart make it's business policies and let the employees work where ever they want to.

Selling, growing, and using marijuana is not a crime in my definition. There are no victims. Laws make criminals out of ordinary citizens. I feel that all the laws against marijuana use should be rescinded. Send police after real crime.

Tom, you and I, were among other vets who never got captured. Most GI's were indoctrinated that it was their duty to escape. Many died trying. I think I may have resisted the urge to escape so I could have the chance to live and return home. I liked this article!

frederick franz 2 years, 4 months ago on 330 Why the bad driving?

Perhaps people are not serious enough about driving and what the consequences of poor practices can result in. Here in Grants Pass, the problem I see is lack of courtesy. An example of this is a 4 lane, one way road, which merges into a 2 lane one way road. If I signal to change into the right hand lane so I can turn off the road, I am almost always ignored. Let's all drive carefully and courteously.

frederick franz 2 years, 4 months ago on 331 Are things really that bad, or is it tunnel vision?

I feel that it is that bad. I also follow news and media web sites. Things get worse all the time and no correction is apparent. One bright spot...we still have no sales tax in Grants Pass, Oregon!

frederick franz 2 years, 4 months ago on 297 Uh-oh! Watch what you say!

Bill of Wrongs: 1 Everyone has the right to do wrong. 2 Everyone has the right to speak any language but English. 3 Everyone has the right to cheat on income tax. 4 Illegal aliens are automatically doing wrong. 5 Illegals and all people have the wrong to be supported by government handouts. 6 No one will be prosecuted for doing the wrong thing! 7 Do the wrong thing...!

frederick franz 2 years, 4 months ago on 293 Is this a win or a loss for us?

We ended "profiling" as an way to screen terrorists. Now the metal detectors are one of the tools remaining legal. I feel that we should use profiling globally. Then perhaps the inconvenience of strip searches, metal detectors, etc. could be very limited.

frederick franz 2 years, 4 months ago on 283 Where are we headed?

Since I now live in Oregon, I must comment on Oregon law. It seems to me that the Oregon legislature is just as ignorant about legal matters, as are other states. When a cop stops a motorist on a busy highway, he is endangering the driver he is after, as well as himself. Creating this danger, for a law of this kind, seems to be awfully asinine.

I try to keep a close watch on scams and frauds. If enough of us do this, it will help keep people aware...!

frederick franz 2 years, 5 months ago on 287 Live on light?

Regarding the effect of sunlight, it has a lot of ultra-violet radiation in it. It can cause serious burning of human skin. I came across an archive which showed a picture of a woman standing in front of a "Suntan Machine". She was holding an UV lamp near her bare arm. She had no eye protection. The medical charlatans had a good time with this kind of thing, and they are apparently still at their mischief!
