Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?

I don't think you should go into hock to throw a party. A lot of municipalities cancelled their fireworks last year and this year for just that reason. But I think Payson is in a different situation than say, Gilbert.
If Gilbert has fireworks, the ONLY people who come out are locals.
When Payson has fireworks, it draws in the visitors. The hope is that revenue from visitors will net more than the event costs. (we all know this - - I’m not trying to be condescending).
Maybe I’m wrong, but Payson “lives” or “dies” on visitor spending.

I have mixed feelings about these posts……
I understand the frustration of locals - - especially you guys who live near the park!
But I suspect that the holiday weekend activities net far more dollars than are spent by the town on some overtime, busses, and porta-pottys. And a good time was had by all to boot (well…by most!).
Maybe the most severly affected residents could be somehow compensated next year….perhaps some VIP seating at the event? Or a couple of tics to an event of your choice? …?

That they vote is scary - - not at all funny.
After 9-11 I had a guy here at work (he's got a high tech job) tell me that some people above the crash floors survived when the building collapsed by “riding down with the rubble”. No science could convince him otherwise - he'd “seen it on the news”.

“There's move on to save the state park system by tacking on a $9 fee to auto licenses. The parks cost the state $21 million a year. The fee would bring in $30 million.”
The $9 is another tax. And if it brings in $30 million then where's the other $9 million going?
If you simply want to cover expenses the fee should be $6.30. But these guys are near thieves when it comes to taxation.

She should probably have asked him to leave (courteously of course), and closed the door.

Where would one find a list of merchants that the town is using? If they had a halfway decent WEB site I suppose they could post it there. They don't even have search function.

Did three pharmacies basically say “We can not get that brand name drug.”?
