I make roughly 40k a year gross. I understand it doesn't work this way, but I would gladly send in an additional 1 or 2% of my gross salary right now if it would help others who have little or nothing. I don't make a fortune, but to a lot of people in our town and in our country my salary would feel like a lottery win. I agree with Robert. It's time to stop worrying about the very wealthy and the taxes they are paying (I'm pretty sure their lawyers and financial managers can deal with that), and start helping the poor and the lower middle class. We have a lot of people who have little or nothing. They can't afford to get sick. And for those of you out there who claim to be Christians and you don't want to help others, shame on you. I have a difficult time understanding the people who don't want healthy, educated future leaders. Countries like China and India have surpassed us when it comes to an educated youth and growth in their economies, but I doubt our downfall will come from that. What will and is hurting this wonderful country is our infighting. We need to stop listening to the talking heads with multi-million dollar contracts stirring up the pot for their beneft. Not because they care about the USA. We need to forget our party affiliations and come together as a country. We need to help those who can't help themselves and stop worrying about purchasing our next unimportant toy. We need to stop hating "the others" because of their gender, race, religion or as I said above, party affiliation. Thank you

The governor and Republican-controlled state Legislature will not consider raising taxes to help balance the budget. They will not even consider closing tax loopholes.
