300th Anniversary of Masons

The Tricentennial Celebration of Modern Freemasonry was held June 24 when 15 Brothers, with 600 years in Masonry, gathered in a local Payson pub to raise a toast in recognition of the 300th Anniversary of the First Grand Lodge of Masonry as it is known today.

On June 24, 1717 four London Lodges, which had existed for some time, came together at the Goose and Gridiron Tavern in St Paul’s Churchyard and declared themselves a Grand Lodge.

They elected Anthony Sayer as their Grand Master.

This was the first Grand Lodge in the world.
