“At first I was thinking of doing a piano solo concert from my favorite Chopin-Liszt — read Shoppin’ List. It had been a dream of mine to perform on that stage ever since that Italian pianist Christina performed for the Tonto Community Concert Association Series about 10 years ago,”“Since this is a fundraiser, why not attract a crowd with some of my favorite local musician friends? I aim to please, so decided to offer a selection of music and instruments — something for everyone to enjoy,” said Ng.
Joining Ng at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 10 are: Laurie Galster, harpist; Steve Stevens, winner of Payson’s First Talent Contest; the Wilson Family; cellist Jonathan Cain and wife Shannon, a dancer, who will perform Piazzolla’s Le Grand Tango with Ng; Ng’s mother, Ann Ng, 92, who will play Liszt’s Liebestraum. Ng plans to play from Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.2.
“For those of you who are unfamiliar with this work, it is from the height of the Romantic era of Classical Music (read romance),” Ng said.
The Payson First Church of the Nazarene, 200 E. Tyler Parkway and the Ponderosa Bible Church, 1800 N. Beeline Hwy., hosts concert pianist Jerry Nelson in two different performances Sunday, Feb. 10.
