When his 20-year agreement with Days Inn & Suites ended, Bobby Patel decided it was time for a change.
So now the hotel he manages with his wife, Alley, at 301 S. Beeline Highway has transformed into a Best Western. That involved a complete makeover with several upgrades, including installation of an elevator and a fitness room.
“The renewal came up so we decided to go a little upper scale,” he said. “This town needed it. We did a complete renovation from the outside to inside.”
All the rooms feature new laminate or carpet flooring, new bedding and furniture, art of Rim Country, a refrigerator and microwave. Each bathroom features new toilets, bathtubs and lighted mirrors.
The lobby has been redone, as well as the dining area across from the desk. They now serve hot breakfasts, which include eggs and other items.
They still feature guest laundry facilities and an indoor pool and hot tub.
The Patels also managed a Comfort Inn across the road before selling that property two years ago.
“We put all of our attention on this property,” he said.
He said town fire inspectors and other officials helped to make it a smooth transition.
“I want to thank the town and the people; they were a big help,” he said.
They’ve been part of the community since coming here from Prescott Valley and opening as a Days Inn in 1999. Their two children graduated from Payson High School.
