Boy Scout Troop 7354, sponsored by Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church of Payson, kicks off the Mountain Village Foundation (MVF) pancake breakfast on May 25 and 26, as part of the Memorial Day Arts & Crafts Festival in Pine.
The breakfast is the MVF’s first big fundraiser of the year. Proceeds help local children, low-income seniors, disabled, as well families and individuals facing hard times.
While the Arts & Crafts Festival opens at 8 a.m. at the Pine Community Center, MVF volunteers will begin serving breakfast at 7 a.m. at the site, after posting of the colors by the Scouts, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and national anthem.
Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice and is $5 per plate; it will be served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26.
Through fundraising efforts like the pancake breakfast, Mountain Village Foundation supplements Christmas presents for more than 70 children.
The group’s focus is helping children and it supports extracurricular activities at the Pine-Strawberry Elementary School, Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library programs and other activities for youth.
It has also supported organizations such as the Senior Citizens Affairs Council/Meals on Wheels, Pine-Strawberry Firefighters Association and Pine Strawberry Fuel Reduction, as well as providing one-time emergency assistance, such as help paying utility bills or home safety repairs.
