Employers were to have sent workers their W2s by Jan. 31. Have you started preparing your tax form? If you earn less than $55,000, and if confusing tax paperwork usually sends you to a commercial tax preparer — call Gila County Community Services to schedule an appointment for free tax preparation.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) personnel will meet, consult and help fill out tax forms.

While the service is free, appointments are required. Call Gila County Community Action Program Administrator Dorine Prine at 928-474-7192.

Prine says the typical appointment lasts about an hour, with benefits lasting all year.

With 25 years of tax preparation — and a decade running the VITA program, Prine has keen insight into tax deductions clients would unknowingly miss.
