Correction:

The April 2 County Pages in the Payson Roundup had a story about summer hours at the landfill. Only the Globe area landfill has summer hours of 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the Buckhead Mesa Landfill, serving northern Gila County, maintains the same hours throughout the year, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday and holidays.

For details call landfill staff at 928-476-3350.

Buckhead Mesa Landfill resumed summer hours Monday, April 1, it is now open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday and holidays.

Two additional April dates to be aware of: April 13 is the once-a-month “Dollar Dump Day” for area residents (not commercial haulers, and some restrictions apply) and April 20 brings an Earth Day special when the landfill will accept green waste at no charge, encouraging residents to clear properties of weeds and brush ahead of wildfire season. Green waste includes tree limbs, brush, grass clippings and leaves.

For more information, call 928-476-3350.

Buckhead Mesa Landfill is north of Payson on Highway 87, across from the Tonto Natural Bridge, milepost 263. One mile east to site.
