The Star Valley Town Council has worked for nearly two months being a member down.
The six-member council first lost Mayor Ronnie McDaniel in February. Vice Mayor Gary Coon took the helm in March, leaving his seat vacant.
At the April 2 meeting, the council could fill the vacant council seat as it is the first item on the agenda.
In the past, the process has involved soliciting letters of interest from the public, along with unofficial recruiting by sitting council members.
Most recently, Ray Armington joined the council after the resignation of Barbara Hartwell, who had to move from Star Valley to Payson. Former Councilor Larry Stephenson was appointed to fill a term left vacant by the death of Councilor Paty Henderson. And McDaniel was also initially appointed as mayor after the resignation of Bill Rappaport.
The state requires Star Valley to make an appointment within 30 days or hold a special election, a costly process.
Other items on the April 2 council agenda:
• An update on the community garden by garden chair Glen McCombs.
• Discussion about a liquor license application for Tonto Rim Bar & Grill, at 3870 E. Highway 260.
• Discussion and possible action regarding a contribution to the Payson Pro Rodeo Committee for the spring rodeo or combined spring and fall rodeos.
The Star Valley Town Council meets at 6 p.m. at town hall, 3675 E. Highway 260.
