A Tonto Apache Police Department K9 helped officers locate bags of fentanyl pills recently.
On March 2, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Tonto Apache Police K9 Loki alerted on a vehicle that an officer had stopped. Approximately 5.4 pounds of fentanyl pills were located inside the vehicle.
A Tonto Apache Police officer arrested a female subject from Albuquerque, N.M. while the male driver fled the scene on foot and is still outstanding.
“No, he has not been arrested,” said Tonto Apache Police Sgt. James Palmer. “He is most likely back in New Mexico. We have, however, positively identified him and the report forwarded to GCAO for charging.”
The female subject was arrested on charges of possession/use of a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug for sale, and transporting a narcotic drug for sale.
