Gila County has monthly landfill dollar days to help residents dispose of waste at a significantly reduced rate.
The Gila County Board of Supervisors voted to modify the county’s landfill rate schedule to allow for Gila County residents to bring waste to the landfill for $1 per load on the second Saturday of each month. The third dollar day will be Saturday, Aug. 11.
The county hopes that these monthly dollar days will support mitigating blight in our communities; help cut down on illegal dumping; and make it easier for residents to keep their properties clear of brush and other green waste.
Proof of Gila County residency will be required, such as a driver’s license or utility bill.
Residents should be prepared for wait times, as Gila County landfills can only allow 10 vehicles entrance at a time for safety reasons.
The $1 second Saturday rate is not valid for:
• Commercial haulers or any for-profit company or individual using the landfills
• Non Gila County residents
• Hazardous materials not normally accepted by Gila County landfills
