Pasta G’s closed May 21.

Just 10 months after it opened, Pasta G’s Ristorante Italiano has closed.

Owner Gary Pederson said the restaurant simply wasn’t generating enough revenue to pay the bills.

Pederson previously owned other restaurants in the Valley and California, but said he has since sold them all.

He moved from Scottsdale to Payson to run Pasta G’s, at 203 State Route 260 in the Safeway Shopping Center. It was formerly the location of Cardo’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant.

“Today I made the decision to close Pasta G’s. It simply was not able to meet its obligations. It was not an easy decision as the crew put in so much effort to make it the best dining and drinking place in town. I felt they accomplished that,” Pederson posted on the Pasta G’s Facebook page. “I hope you give the new buyer the same friendship that you all gave me.”

Customers and employees said they were stunned to see Pederson had closed the restaurant May 28. Several employees took to social media to say they were disappointed they had not been given notice.

Tuesday’s trivia night had become a popular event drawing large crowds to the restaurant.

In recent weeks, Pederson had tried several things to draw crowds in at other times, including hosting Pasta G’s After Dark on Fridays, which included music and dancing.
