Jon Beeson wasn’t sure what he wanted to do for a living after he graduated from Payson High in 2003.

But his career path came into focus after he spent time watching his father-in-law, Dr. Troy Ford, at Payson Eye Care Center.

“He invited me to come shadow him in the office to see if optometry might pique my interest and it did,” Beeson said.

Beeson grew up in Tonto Basin. He met Katie Ford in high school. They celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in January.

They have three children after the birth of their daughter, Brooklyn, on June 6. Their son, Jackson, will be 7 on July 23 and their daughter, Emily, will turn 3 on July 8.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Arizona State in 2013. He worked as an ophthalmic technician for Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center before attending medical school at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry. He graduated with his doctorate in June of 2018. He completed advanced training during his internship in ocular disease and primary care at the Nationwide Vision Medical Center.

He’s received extensive training working with Dr. Ford for the past six months.

Dr. Beeson is accepting new patients.

“I’m up to date on the recent techniques and procedures,” he said. “We practice the full scope of optometry including medical optometry so we can manage cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, as well as all their visual needs.”

He’s glad to be working in Payson.

“I’m just mostly excited to be home and helping serve the community that I grew up in,” he said.

He said he just likes helping people.

“I think the biggest thing was being able to sit and relate and talk to the patients I grew up with in our small community and making a significant impact in their life helping with their visual needs,” he said.

He stressed the importance of regular vision checkups.

“One of the things I think we take for granted is our sight and once it begins to go, we realize how important it is,” he said. “It’s important to see your eye doctor on a regular basis. We are one of the front line providers for our community.”

Payson Eye Care is located at 411 S. Beeline Highway #4, phone 928-474-3297.
