Drought conditions, rising temperatures and increased fire danger have resulted in fire restrictions being implemented within the Town of Payson as of Monday, June 17.

To ensure the safety of homes, businesses and natural resources from the increased potential for dangerous fires, the Payson Fire Department is suspending all outside burning, according to a press release from the department.

“We continue to remind the public that all fireworks are prohibited on the forest and in the city of Payson at all times. Violation of these restrictions is punishable by laws.”

Under the restrictions, the building of an open fire, campfire or recreational fire is prohibited within the Town of Payson.

This restriction does not apply to the use of outdoor grills used for cooking on private property.

For more information, contact the Payson Fire Department at 928-474-5242, extension 9.
