Santa Claus will make another appearance Saturday in the APS Electric Light Parade down Main Street, which starts at 6 p.m. Linger to the end to see Santa’s fancy new sleigh.

Tradition and holiday joy came together the day after Thanksgiving at the Swiss Village’s 38th Annual Christmas Lighting.

Ron and Carol Reed of Payson Candle Factory started this family event in 1979, and it has been a favorite ever since.

Swiss Village shops decorated their businesses and opened their doors for this year’s festivities that included a huge bouncy house, food, art and craft vendors, face painting, pony rides, goats, and the main attraction Santa and Mrs Claus.

They arrived at 6 p.m. on a fire truck and took up residence in a brightly decorated trailer to greet the long line of families waiting to have their photo taken with them.

One man made animals out of balloons, dancers dressed in Santa costumes gave several performances to an appreciative crowd.

The event was packed as usual, as residents and visitors came to kick off their holiday season in true Payson style.
