Payson Elementary School is holding its Scholastic Dino-Mite Book Fair this week. The event, one of two book fairs the school holds each year, is a fundraiser for the library.

This fair features a dinosaur theme.

“Our goal is to get at least one book into every child’s hands,” said Carla Abraham, who is in her seventh year as the school’s librarian.

She said they’ve raised an average of $7,000-$8,000 in the previous 13 book fairs she’s taken part in at the school.

She loves watching children light up when their parent or grandparent buys them their very own book.

“They’re excited,” she said.

Today is the final day, with hours from 7:30 a.m. until noon.

They’ve held special events throughout the book fair. Some were for moms, some for dads and others for grandparents.

Among the highlights were visits by Clifford the Big Red Dog and the Cat in the Hat.
