Glennis J. Stephenson died April 9, 2019 in her Payson home. She was born to Elbert and Magnolia Cook Thrash on July 11, 1925 in Grove Oak, Alabama.
During the forties Glennis was a welder in the shipyards in Seattle where she met her beloved husband Don. They married and lived with their 3 daughters in several western states before settling in Mesa, Arizona and eventually moving to Payson in the sixties. Don was a build-ing contractor and built 3 strip malls in Payson. Glennis read blueprints, kept books and was Don’s right hand in his projects. They were instrumental in raising funds to build the LDS Church and Glennis served as Relief Society President and Young Womens President. She was treasurer for the Womens Republican Party 2004-2005, and was campaign manager for the Republican nominee for sheriff, Kim Pound in 2004, who incidentally was her grandson-in-law. Glennis had 3 antique shops over the years.
Glennis was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Grace Burke, brothers Bud and Ted Thrash, her husband and her grandson, Evan.
She is survived by her daughter Bobbie Ragan (Jerry) Geraldine, Alabama, LaDonna Miller (Craig) of Mesa, Arizona and Diane Altstatt (Rob) of Phoenix, Arizona as well as six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grand-children. Our loss is heaven’s gain.
Funeral services will be held April 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Payson. Please note the family is highly allergic to lilies.
