Thomas John Soffera, age 92 of Waddell, AZ died November 7, 2018 in Waddell, AZ. He was born February 6, 1926 in Nazareth, PA, one of 11 children born to Angelo and Santa Soffera. Thomas learned to work hard at a young age. After high school he joined the US Navy and served during WWII. He met his beautiful wife, Dolorus while she was working at a drug store soda fountain in Glendale, AZ. On October 21st they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
After the war, Thomas worked hard to provide for his wife and family. He was em-ployed at several companies, most notably for Honeywell where he rose from the stock-room to working as a computer operator. He retired from Honeywell after 21 years of service.
Thomas was a strong Christian man who had a tremendous influence on everyone he met. As a member of Starlight Park Baptist Church he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Youth Minister and church softball coach. In Payson, he and Dolorus served for 20 years in the Food Ministry at First Southern Baptist Church. He loved his children and grand-children and adored his wife. His love and concern for his family, and especially his wife, Dolorus was his top priority throughout his entire life.
He is survived by his wife, Dolorus Soffera; daughter, Cheryl Kreger; son, Greg Soffera; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters and his son, Tom Soffera, Jr. Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Harvest Baptist Church, 535 N. Sarival Avenue, Goodyear, AZ 85338. Arrangements are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear, AZ.
