Military activity enormous economic driver in Arizona

Editor:

Because there are many military retirees and active military reserves living in the area, it should be quite interesting that a prominent Arizona woman has become the nominee to be the Secretary of the Air Force. Barbara Barrett has a long and impressive background in public service and military activities. She served on the boards of the RAND Corporation and Aerospace Corp., an adviser to the Secretary of the Navy and the first woman to land an F/A-18 Hornet on the deck of an aircraft carrier.

Arizona is fortunate to have many military installations around the state which add greatly to our economic security and play a major role in our national security.

The most advanced technological and formidable bomber, the F-35 jet in quantity is flown out of Luke Air Force Base and Davis Monthan. The Navy version is also homed at Yuma Air Station. I’m sure having this much military activity in Arizona will continue to be an enormous economic driver and will receive all the support needed from a new Secretary of the Air Force who has lived and worked here for many years.
