Suicide series appreciated

Thank you Pia Wyer and the Payson Roundup for your series on suicide. Wyer’s articles are shining a light on a dark and devastating problem in our community by providing insight into the lives of suicide survivors and the loved ones left behind.

She has also given a voice to those who have left us. This is a courageous endeavor.

Suicide isn’t just an individual concern. It’s not just a family concern. Suicide is a community concern. In June of 2018 the CDC issued a report that showed that suicide rates had increased in every state but one, and in half the states suicides among ages 10 and older increased 30 percent.

Suicide is a public health crisis and we, the public, the community, must work together to turn the tide.

I am proud of our community newspaper for tackling this incredibly significant issue.
