Tougher DV sentence needed

Editor:

After reading, “Man gets probation for DV” in the April 5 paper, I am left thinking “What am I missing?” Apparently the defendant, Gutier, “admitted his conduct” ... that he had “beaten her and drawn blood,” “threatened,” “had bruises on her neck and face” and put a hit out on her.

Judge Tim Wright has sent a message to victims of domestic violence in Gila County that this is taken lightly as evidenced by the kid glove treatment and minimal sentence he imposed.

We should speak up loud and clear that domestic violence will not be tolerated here. Shame on you.
