Zoia Brouwer art

2016 Payson High School graduate Zoia Brouwer shows her work in the Phoenix Art Museum during the 3rd Annual Elemental Cultural Arts Festival.

Zoia Brouwer, a Payson High School 2016 graduate, showed five of her drawings and paintings in the 3rd Annual Elemental Cultural Arts Festival at the Phoenix Art Museum.

Maricopa Community College organizers honored Zoia by asking her to enter her work depicting scenes from her native country Buryatia, in eastern Siberia.

The festival celebrated students in the movement, sound, vision and expressive arts, said Zoia’s mother, Lynette.

“It was a delightful evening of dance, cultural and modern; original storytelling; guitar, flute and Latin jazz music and various visual arts,” she said. “166 students from seven of Maricopa County’s 10 colleges entered work and performances in the event.”

Zoia showed an interest in the arts during her time at PHS. She acted in plays and worked on her art throughout her high school career.

She spent two years at Gila Community College studying fine arts. To finish her education, she moved to the Valley and enrolled in the Phoenix College media arts animation program.
