Mike Anderson and Richard Harding fired a 114 score to edge John Calderwood and Herb Sherman by one stroke for the Payson Men’s Golf Association Two-Man Best Ball Tournament at Payson Golf Course on May 1 and 8.

It’s the first of four major tournaments for the PMGA this season.

Anderson and Harding finished first in the A Flight, while Calderwood and Sherman took the B Flight crown with a 115.

Alex Armenta and Terry Lindsdey (121) finished second in the A Flight and Larry Smith and Chip Yeomans (122) placed third.

Popeye Clay and Mike McKee (118) finished second in the B Flight, with George Spatz and Chuck Walker (120) finishing third.

Dennis Schwebs had the longest putt on No. 18 on May 1, finding the cup from 10 feet 11 inches. Larry Smith had the long putt on May 8 (12-5).

Closest-to-the-pin winners on May 1 included: Jesse Smith (No. 5, 19 feet 3 inches), Tim Ernst (No. 8, 3-6 1/2), Ron Fischer (No. 14, 14-9) and Al Chittenden (No. 17, 3-11).

Closest-to-the-pin winners on May 8 included: Ken Althoff (No. 2, 16-5), Jesse Smith (No. 5, 3-8), Terry Lindsey (No. 8, 1-3), Ernst (No. 14, 4-5) and Sherman (No. 17, 10-4).
