Payson won both the boys and girls varsity championships in the eight-team Bubba Nielsen Invitational/Payson Rotary Meet on Wednesday.
Brock Davis took part in four first-place finishes to lead Payson’s boys team to 160.5 points and a comfortable victory over runner-up Gilbert American Leadership Academy (126).
Davis won both the 110-meter hurdles (15.74 seconds) and 400 (personal-record 51.89), edging teammate Lance Beckner (PR 51.90) in the 400.
Cole Tenney won the 300 hurdles (43.45).
Davis, Tenney and Beckner teamed with Tim McCarthy to win the 4x100 in 45.30 and with Jordan Harger to win the 4x400 (3:39.07). Harger also won the pole vault (9-6).
Luis Diaz won both the shot put (44-2.5) and discus (123-9).
Hannah Goldman and Meredith Kiekintveld both took part in three first-place finishes to lead the girls varsity team to 140 points. Benjamin Franklin finished second with 108.5.
Goldman won both the 100 (13.75) and 400 meters (1:09.93). Kiekintveld won both hurdle races, finishing the 100 in 16.33 and the 300 in 47.78.
The two seniors also teamed with Emmy White and Savanna White to win the 4x100 in 53.02.
Savanna White won the discus in a PR 105-11. Faith Haught won the shot put (29-1).
In the freshman-sophomore girls meet, MaKenzie Brade won both the 100 (14.29) and 400 (1:07.5). Aubrietta Mercer won the 1600 (6:10.90). Paige Creasy won the shot put (PR 23-10). Jou-An Shen won the discus in a PR 79-11.
In the boys freshman-sophomore meet, Hunter Lee tied for first in the high jump (5-6).
Mogollon won both the boys and girls freshman-sophomore meet.
Seven other schools participated — Apache Junction, Benjamin Franklin, Chino Valley, Gilbert American Leadership, Heber Mogollon, Ironwood American Leadership and Sanders Valley.
