Tim Hughes fired a 26 to edge a trio of golfers for the A Flight championship in the Payson Men’s Golf Association Modified Stableford Tournament on April 3 at Payson Golf Course.
In that system, golfers are awarded one point for a par, two for a birdie and three for an eagle and they use their handicap to arrive at a net score.
Mike Anderson finished second, Dennis Schwebs third and Kevin Bailey fourth. All finished with 25 scores.
Jim Livingstone (23) won the B Flight over Mike McKee (22), George Spatz (21) and Chuck Walker (19).
Mike Anderson had the long putt of the day, finding the cup from 13 feet 3 inches on the ninth hole.
Closest-to-the-pin winners included: Schwebs (No. 5, 6-1 1/2), Hughes (No. 8, 6-5 1/2), McKee (No. 14, 9-4 1/2) and Livingstone (No. 17, 6-7 1/2).
